Abstract
The importance of force feedback in a virtual workspace had already been showed in many researches. With force feedback, operators in the virtual workspace can do their “virtual” jobs more speedily and precisely and can feel more real. Nowadays force display is mainly realized by complicated structure. These complicated and heavy structures both make the user feel uncomfortable and limited his moving freedom. We have made a string-motor structure device, called BIG SPIDER, to realize the position measurement and force display in a human-scale virtual environment. This is a kind of simple mechanism, light weight and moving free system. A system is developed which allow the user not only move around but also feeling force sensation in it
