Abstract :
This paper focuses on the differences of the elders aged 60 years and older between East and West in China. Because studies have always focused on East China, a research framework in West China should be explored essentially. A mixed method approach was used for exploring the framework. The framework emphasizes the comfort, health, and adaptation of urban space for elders. The promotion-process between urban space and elders´ communication, physical activities, and healthy care are also the key points of this framework. Meanwhile, the specificity of place should be considered. The study suggests that urban space needs to take local politics, finance, culture, custom, human existence, and local spatial pattern in consideration.
