Abstract :
A magnetizer system is used to produce a high current impulse in a magnetizing fixture for magnets of various shapes. In the case of a capacitor-type magnetizer system, a magnet is magnetized by the discharging current of capacitors. Also, in the case of a SCR-type magnetizer system, a magnet is magnetized by the discharging current using positive pulse by a turn-on of SCR. The price of today´s two-type magnetizer system is relatively expensive. This paper describes a method for cost reduction estimation of two type magnetizers system. We used a cost reduction structure that consisted of four or five major subsystems (capacitor-type system: five major subsystems, SCR-type system: four major subsystems). Especially, we estimated the potential for cost reductions in magnetizer systems as a function of time using the learning curve, and the potential of cost by depreciation. The reliable results were obtained by using an 8-pole fixture (rotor magnet of brushless DC motor) coupled to a middle-voltage magnetizer (charging voltage: 1200 V, capacitor bank: 2000 μF)
