Abstract
This paper proposes a new block effect reduction technique, called content-based AC prediction, for an MPEG-2 compressed video. In the proposed algorithm, AC coefficients are predicted considering the image content itself in the DCT domain. Firstly, the algorithm detects which block has a block effect. Secondly, the algorithm finds whether the block is near the boundary of an image content or not. Then the adaptive AC prediction algorithm is applied to reduce the block effect.
