Abstract :
The increasing demand for oil and gas before the recession was driving up prices and the focus of oil and gas producers was to maintain, and maximise, production from every available facility. We saw more and more safety instrumented system SIS replacement projects for systems such as emergency shut down (ESD) process shut down (PSD) and Fire and Gas (F&G) systems being undertaken whilst the process was still fully operational, in order to avoid loss of production, even though this potentially compromised the integrity of a facility.
