Abstract
The joint-stock company “Petersburg Telephone Network” (PTN) provides inhabitants of the second large city of the Russian Federation and its nearest suburbs with subscriber facilities. The total capacity of the switching equipment installed at the PTN amounts to about 1.9 million numbers. The equipment has been installed in buildings of nodal telephone exchanges (with a capacity of above 20000 numbers), district exchanges (with a capacity of 10000-20000 numbers), remote subscriber units (RSU). The total amount of buildings, where the equipment served by enterprise´s staff has been installed is more than 200. About 100 buildings out of this amount are nodal and district exchanges. The digital, crossbar as well as step-by-step systems are used as switching equipment
