Abstract :
The different interactions between man and nature in different historical periods lead to different urban spatial morphology. The urban space of the ancient Yichang city was mainly influenced by the idea of "the harmony between man and nature", and the urban spatial morphology was a passive choice conforming to the natural environment. In modern times, the urban space is influenced by the idea of "respecting nature" and "transforming nature". In 1840, limited by territory of Yangtze River, the Yichang city was belt in form and in modern times, with the rapid expansion, it developed into spatial structure of community, limited by Yangtze Rive and the highlands. In new periods, under the guidance of sustainable development, Yichang develops into a spatial structure of "decentralized concentration" and create specific characteristics of landscape garden by making full use of the natural environment.
