Abstract :
We present a rate-distortion based optimization technique for a zerotree entropy wavelet coding scheme, namely the MPEG-4 visual texture coding (VTC) technique. With an accurate quadratic modeling of the rate distortion function, our algorithm precisely reaches target bit rate with better image quality using an efficient and fast iterative technique.
