Abstract :
Underwater acoustic communications are made difficult by the characteristics of the transmission channel. They experience Doppler effects, intersymbol interference and non-stationarities. In this paper, we address an original adaptive receiver which effectively compensates for the signal distortion. We present an adaptive multichannel equalizer made of a bank of transversal filters. A fast-optimized LMS algorithm is introduced and its performances are compared to that of other algorithms. Results are also described on experimental data
