Abstract :
For some time, a demand has again arisen for power apparatus outdoor housings in metal. There are several reasons for this. Particularly in telecommunications, the components installed in the outdoor housings are no longer purely passive, but increasingly a combination of passive and active components. Due to the changed assemblies, the range of requirements made on the housing also changes. In just the same way as plastic distribution boxes, the IP protection classes and the mechanical effects are very significant to the cabinet. The electronics in the housing require a higher degree of protection; protection against excessive operating temperatures. High operating temperatures significantly reduce the service lives of electronic components. These extended requirements can only be fulfilled in part by plastic distribution boxes. As an alternative to the plastic distribution boxes, outdoor housings made of metal are a possible solution. Aluminum alloys, stainless steel in diverse qualities, galvanized, lacquered or powder coated steel sheet are amongst the materials
