Abstract
Wind direction estimation is a very important factor in many oceanic studies and applications (such as oil spill, wave, ocean circulation, wind speed calculations...). Also, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) has capability of providing high resolution images from sea surface wind track in every environmental condition. So, wind field analysis based on SAR image descriptor gives the researchers more opportunities. In this paper we introduce a new method using mathematical morphological image analysis for wind direction estimation from SAR images.
