Abstract :
Multi-rate communication systems are considered for the transmission of direct-sequence code-division multiple-access wireless signals. Performance for jointly optimal detection is studied in the context of multi-code access and variable spreading length access. Prior results for dual-rate systems are extended to multi-rate systems and the effects of correlation between high-rate users in the multi-code scenario are explored. Comparison of the two multirate systems is done via the calculation of asymptotic multi-user performance measures and appropriate bounds
