  • Abstract
    This paper describes the proposed improvement in the reliability of uninterruptible power supply systems for the powering of telecom equipment on the basis of redundant connection of an AC UPS and electric generator. The proposed improvement provides higher reliability of power supply system performance achieved by more efficient using of full resources of UPS and by special procedure of starting up of generator in operation. This feature is particular beneficial for the peculiarity of conditions of the mains (commercial source of electric power) in local utilities in Russia and the CIS. It concludes that the use of proposed procedure of operation in power systems is an effective way for a substantial improvement in reliability of total system and to avoid the mechanical wear of generator as well
