Abstract :
The authors present a broadband network simulation testbed (BROADNEST) developed to design, analyze, and evaluate the performance of high-speed multiservices digital communication networks such as broadband ISDN (integrated services digital network). Basically, the BROADNEST software consists of four software modules, each composed of several modules or subpackages: the netin module is developed to build up a network model; the sim module performs simulation tasks; the monitor module allows the user to view the operation of the sim module while it is running; and the output module is responsible for gathering statistics. BROADNEST is a modular and hierarchical software system and its structure is designed to make it very easy to expand or to be tailored for any specific simulation usage. A distribution BROADNEST is proposed to satisfy large-capacity, high-speed, flexible-prototype simulation needs
