Abstract :
A fiber-based amplifier seeded by similaritons producing uniform transform-limited pulses with variable repetition-rate is demonstrated. Employing this, a photonic crystal waveguide is written inside fused silica, supporting ~248-μm2 mode area and ~ 10-dB polarization-extinction-ratio.
