Abstract :
The evolution of artificial intelligence technology over the past decade has lead to the development of a mature application area known as knowledge based systems. Knowledge base systems are computer programs capable of reasoning based on information maintained in a domain specific knowledge base. This paper describes the requirements of knowledge base system construction and discusses their relevance in the area of computer aided technology. In particular, a potential implementation of a knowledge-based system capable of computer-aided design is discussed.
