Abstract
The impact of document management on quality-assurance-related software development efforts is described. Document management is the process of navigating, manipulating, and maintaining information contained in the files and other information sources associated with any one effort. The analysis reveals that effective and efficient document management is a prerequisite to the application of structured testing methodology. The quality assurance role of documents and the complex relationships between documents are examined, and the associated difficulties are discussed. A preliminary organizing framework for quality assurance documents that addresses these difficulties is presented
