Abstract :
An adaptive lateral guidance for the F-14 aircraft using disturbance-observers and the subspace-stabilization theory is presented. Disturbance accommodating observers are used to estimate and cancel out the combined effects of nonlinear, uncertain and off-nominal terms in real-time. This paper uses the design of a lateral axis control of the aircraft in a companion paper presented in this conference (2000). Numerical simulation results demonstrate that the guidance steers lateral position and bank angle error with respect to carrier deck adequately, not withstanding lateral disturbing motion of the aircraft carrier accompanied by a bank disturbance of the deck and crosswind disturbances
