Abstract
The voltage asymmetry between two capacitors in the low-cost split power converter greatly limits the application of this converter topology in four-phase switched reluctance motor (SRM) drives. This paper theoretically analyzes the voltage variations of two capacitors in the split power converter during steady-state operations. The state-space model, including capacitor voltages for the dynamic analysis of the drive, is established and the voltage asymmetry in the split power converter is simulated. The compensation method is presented later. Results from an experimental prototype are also given
