The significance of EU directives on power electronic systems

The recent introduction of numerous European directives has caused considerable confusion. This is partly caused by the wide ranging scope of the directives and the variations of approach applicable to different product groups. There is therefore considerable scope for explanatory documentation. This paper seeks to give a very brief overview of the directives and to clarify the implications towards power electronic systems
