Abstract
The Japanese Society of Medical Electronics and Biological Engineering (JSMEBE) was founded in November, 1962. In May of this year, we celebrated our 30th anniversary in Tokyo. At the foundation of our society we had about 500 members. The number of the members has increased steadily during the last three decades and now we have about 5,000 members in our society. The ratio of members with a medical background to those with an engineering background is almost fifty-fifty, indicating the interdisciplinary nature of our society.
