Abstract
Two approaches are described for the dynamic modeling of a single-phase inverter-based reactive power compensator operating with block firing. Each approach leads to a representation which permits the application of either continuous-time or discrete-time linear control theory. The implications of the continuous and discrete-time nature of the developed models are also discussed
