Abstract
Amplitude only logarithmic radon transform (ALR transform) for pattern matching is proposed. An ALR image is invariant even if objects are translated in a picture. In the case of object scaling and rotation, the ALR image is merely translated. The objects are identified using a phase-only matched filter on the ALR image. The differences of size, rotation angle, and position between the two objects are detected. Our pattern matching procedure is described, and its simulations are executed. We show that the Fourier-Mellin transform and our proposed method have a closed relationship and some differences.
