Abstract
Modulo-PCM (MPCM) idea was first proposed at ICASSP-79 conference and results of further work have been reported at other international conferences. We describe here a novel speech coder called MPCM-AQF, designed for medium bit rate applications around 32 kbs. The performance of the coder is evaluated for 26 speech utterances and compared with that of ADPCM and DPCM-AQF coders. The results clearly show that MPCM-AQF is a relevant speech coding system and is an alternative to DPCM coders.
