Abstract :
The obligation of mobile operators to implement emergency call services, as well as the big interest in developing commercial LBS (Location Based Services), have led to the intensive development of techniques for determination of mobile user´s position in the last few years. The main goal of these researches is to achieve the highest possible accuracy, but with minimal changes in terms of network or mobile handset. In this paper, three different models for mobile users´ positioning, based upon utilization of RSS (Received Signal Strength) values of GSM, UMTS or both GSM and UMTS base stations, are proposed. Models were implemented using Support Vector Regression. Models generation and accuracy verification were done by using real data, measured in suburban environment.
