Abstract :
Shows that the filter-based methods and facet-model-based methods widely used in image analysis and computer vision can be unified by the local moments method, which reveals the relation between these methods and thus extends application of local moments to edge detection, optic flow calculation and range image segmentation, etc. A fast algorithm to calculate local moments is proposed. Finally, the authors present the application of the method to range image segmentation and show that it can segment range images effectively
