Abstract
This paper presents implementation studies and results of a 30 channel PCM-Delta converter. Two main implementation approaches have been studied: A processor based hardware (NEC uPD 7720) and an ordinary discret solution based on TRW multipliers. The complexity of the algorithm is fairly typical for many real time problems in digital signal processing. The results of the two implementations are compared in terms of cost and power dissipations for different functions as arithmetic operations, overflow control, memory, control and addressing. A short description of the algorithm together with simulation results and design objectives is also given. For simplicity only the conversion in the PCM to Delta direction is described.
