Abstract
Recently a method for decentralized pole placement based on the internal system structure and root locus was introduced. This procedure is reviewed here and applied to a two area power system with decentralized output feedback. A complete characterization of the attainable composite system poles in given. It is shown how a reduced order model arises naturally in the analysis.
