Abstract :
H.264/AVC is the current video standardization project of the ITU-T video coding experts group (VCEG) and the ISO/IEC moving picture experts group (MPEG). H.264/AVC represents a major step forward in the development of video coding standards. In this paper, the authors briefly introduced a technical overview of H.264/AVC standard and proposed the related coding tools. At the last section, the authors compared the H.264/AVC standard with other prior coding standards. The results show that H.264/AVC standard will enable new applications and business opportunities to be developed.
