  • Abstract
    This paper presents a novel one dimensional (1D) photonic bandgap (PBG) microstrip structure filter working at about 2.4 GHz. This device consists of a 50 Ω microstrip transmission line and a PBG ceramic substrate. The filter exhibits a well-defined stopband. S-parameter simulation results are presented. The simulated results with 3D full wave electromagnetic analysis using HFSS (high-frequency structure simulator) are in good agreement with other literary data. Several filters with different periodic lattice parameters are compared. The design and simulation facilitate further research on the structural design and optimization.
