Abstract :
An input-output discrete event system (I/O DES) called a “cost-evaluated discrete event system (CeDES)” is proposed, where the system output is defined as a “cost” required for the firing of the input language. Based on this, a new supervisory control problem is formulated with respect to cost limitation, and the “cost-limitability” of a language is defined as a characteristic of the CeDES languages to satisfy the problem. Also, we define the “optimization problem of the CeDES” and propose a scheme using evolutionary programming (EP) for solving the problem when the DES is very complex so that the conventional control synthesis algorithm may become intractable
