Abstract :
The coast guard has continually explored new technologies in order to fulfill its multiple missions. Numerous projects over the years have evaluated autonomous and remotely operated vehicles. Missions explored have included law enforcement, environmental assessment, search and rescue, and vessel damage inspection and temporary repair. Past efforts are reviewed and operational experience with the R&D Center´s Phantom 300 are described. Other operational experience and recommendations for the future are presented
