Abstract :
We consider the use of rational interpolants (RIs) for small error probability in communication systems. The idea is interesting since there is a possibility of significantly reducing the cost when evaluating new systems by mainly studying their asymptotic behavior. The approximation accuracy and computational efficiency of RIs are shown to be quite satisfactory through the three examples. This is due to the fast convergence when the functions to be approximated have “nice” properties. Though much remains to be studied, the RI method seems to be a promising tool in dealing with complicated performance analysis problems in communication systems
