Abstract
A mass spectrometric analysis of MA (methamphetamine) was performed. Quantities of MA were determined by the selected ion monitoring (SIM) and selected reaction monitoring (SRM) techniques. The limits of detection of MA standard solution and MA in urine are discussed. The limit of detection of MA is less than 1 ng. A urine sample can be analyzed directly without pretreatment procedures. The time required for each analysis is within two minutes. It is concluded that mass spectrometry utilizing SIM or SRM is a powerful method for the analysis of forensically important drugs and their metabolites in body fluids
