Abstract
At the tactical or management control decision making level in companies the two key issues are product pricing and allocation of resources. An architecture for knowledge support for these two problems is presented, and it is shown how concrete knowledge support systems have been developed to operationalize these concepts. The first of these, Price-Strat, is described as it is applied to gasoline pricing in the French market by a leading multinational company. The second, TAPS (targeted allocation of promotional spend) is illustrated for the problem of promotional budget allocation for a British bank
