Abstract :
The effect on the cutoff rate of a multilevel coding scheme used for M-PSK signalling when the receiver end quantizes the demodulator output is studied. A simple but suboptimal phase-only quantizing scheme which is independent of the operating SNR, is shown to be almost as good as the optimal, SNR dependent, counterpart
