Abstract
A method for characterizing a target is proposed in this paper, based on the eigenvalue decomposition of a scattering matrix. From this method, a set of parameters is derived. The parameters are not only independent of the spans of the scattering matrices, but also independent of the target orientation angles. With these parameters, we enhance the contrast between the road and forest of a SAR image, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed parameters.
