Abstract :
Network planning for upgrades or new installations of transmission lines is nowadays based on extensive network analysis. Immense efforts have to be taken to hand over data between network owners, consultants and suppliers doing network studies. The proposed methods reduce the data exchange to simplified core information. A modified extended ward method is introduced for modeling the network environment. The transmission system is modeled into special modules that will also provide the opportunity of an optimizing configuration process for network expansion options. The accuracy and applicability of the entire process and methods are shown with the example of a real high voltage transmission system.
