Negotiated Rational Commitment and Decommitment in Sensor Webs

The work presented in this paper uses a modified Jadex Contract Net Protocol to create coalitions of sensors that are joined into a Sensor Web. We describe how we adapt the protocol to use argumentation-based negotiation allowing the sensors to rationally commit to tasks and decommit from previously scheduled tasks to join an alternate Sensor Web. We also describe how we will test our negotiation-based Sensor Web system using sensor data collected from the South East Alaska Monitoring Network for Science, Telecommunication,Education, and Research database.
