Abstract
Proposed large space structures will exhibit structural dynamics which must be accounted for in a control system design. Because of the long life and infrequent revisit requirements of large spacecraft, the requirement of keeping the system operational with failed components is imposed on the control system designer. This paper presents a technique for dealing with failed components that uses analytic redundancy and sequential decision theory. The method is currently being tested in a laboratory apparatus and results of the test are included in the paper.
