Abstract :
Using a 5-GHz CMOS direct-conversion wireless local area network (WLAN) transceiver design as an example, this paper describes the RF IC design options and challenges for WLAN applications. The selection of process technology, transceiver architecture and frequency planning are discussed. The achieved 5-GHz radio performance is reported.
