Abstract :
In this paper we investigate the influence of material and geometrical parameters of a ridge optical waveguide on optical confinement factor. For desired value of confinement factor we find cladding layer refractive index and thickness, core layer thickness and ridge width which minimize the difference between confinement factors for TE and TM polarization.
