Abstract
In both IP based mobility schemes and cellular networks, mobility support relies on centralized approaches forwarding traffic towards and from mobile nodes location. In order to overcome the inherent limitations of those mobility approaches such as flexibility concerns and scalability issues caused by centralized functions, we proposed in a new distributed and dynamic approach for managing mobility at access nodes level. This new DMA (Dynamic Mobility Anchoring) scheme is further evaluated in this article by means of simulations. Thus, we compare and further analyze the achieved handover and traffic delays for both DMA and a typical centralized scheme when delivering real-time traffic to a user moving in a wireless network. Our results show promising benefits of DMA compared to more traditional schemes such as Mobile IP and its various optimizations. Our future work will mostly address the adaptability of DMA to various networking environments.
