Abstract
In this paper, we examine the zero crossings of impulse and step responses of linear, time-invariant systems. Of particular interest are positive impulse response transfer functions and nonminimum phase systems. The results presented in this paper provide guidelines for designing controllers that guarantee non-overshooting step response
