Abstract
Nonhysteretic infiltration in nonswelling soil is modelled by the Burgers equation under appropriate physical conditions. For this nonlinear partial differential equation a modal scheme for estimating parameters such as soil water diffusivity and conductivity are introduced, and numerical experiments are performed
