Abstract
NASA has proposed to put a Space Station in orbit in the early 1980s. This paper describes the steps involved in applying maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) method to identify the parameters of the dynamic model of the Space Station. The amount of computation in the MLE approach is reduced by using the method of successive approximation. Numerical results based on simulated data is presented in the paper.
