Abstract :
Next generation mobile terminals will have to support multiuser detection and more than one antenna (Multiple Output Multiple Input - MIMO) to implement the latest high data rate modes of UTRA/3GPP such as HSDPA. Hence, very efficient and flexible detection algorithms are needed. In [1] we have already shown an approach of such an equalizer for multi user detection. In this paper we will present a multi user MIMO linear least squares based equalizer for Space-Time Transmit Diversity (STTD) encoded data, which can make use of the same CORDIC based platform as the multi user equalizer. The paper shows that our approach has got a significant performance increase while maintaining computational complexity in comparison to a standard Rake based equalizer.
