Abstract :
A novel discrete time-domain algorithm for the fast simulation of switching regulators is presented. The key features are: (1) the system is divided into two cascade networks, the power circuit and the control circuit, assuming that there are no load effects between them; (2) a linear interpolation method is used for solving boundary equations in order to determine the instant at which the system topology switches. The proposed algorithm is verified on two different PWM (pulse-width-modulation) switching regulators and compared with the algorithm proposed by R.C. Wong. The simulation results show that both the computational efficiency and accuracy are significantly improved. The proposed algorithm can also be used to simulate other high-order piecewise linear control systems
