Abstract
In this paper, a technique for image normalization based on the geometric properties of image feature points is presented. The proposed technique consists of two main steps, the feature point extraction and the estimation of the normalization parameters. The feature point extraction is carried out using an extractor that based on scale-interaction of Mexican-hat wavelets. The locations of the feature points extracted in the first step are used to estimate the normalization parameters needed for normalizing the image. The proposed technique can be used to normalize input images in a rotation, translation and scale invariant manner. Experimental results illustrate the accuracy of normalization and the robustness against several geometric distortions, image degradations and common image-processing operations.
