Abstract
In this paper, we present TIARA, a tool aimed at home users for basic home network management. TIARA advantages are twofold. First, it exploits the benefits of Augmented Reality (AR) for visual identification of network devices during performing network management tasks. Second, it encapsulates technical jargons into common, day-to-day phrases. TIARA strength lies in its architecture that is loosely coupled and able to be implemented beyond home network. Built on an Android smart phone, TIARA provides a unified UI and portability for seamless operations. Our experiments have shown that TIARA yields only a fraction (of up to 15.1%) of the traditional method in completing basic management tasks. In addition, TIARA receives high scores in ease of use, satisfaction level and importance of TIARA in home network management.
